NOVELTY STORY

Todd Green started the company in 1980. Todd was sixteen years old and a junior in high school. The first thought was to put company logos on baseball caps. The company quickly took off and achieved some major sales including Nautilus Health Spas, Kiwanis International, Hook's Drug Stores, Southland Carpet Supplies and many more while still in high school. The need to import baseball caps quickly became apparent and the first importing was started.

Todd started at a local college, moved out and started pushing the business forward. The first year in college, C-Stores were identified as an additional market to move more caps, so we could import our own. We landed Village Pantry, a 180 store chain based in Indiana. The caps started selling and the DSD business was underway. The customers liked the sales and needed more of the NEW fresh merchandise. Novelty Distributors was born.

With two years in college and two thriving businesses, something had to change. Todd dropped out of school and put his efforts behind Novelty. He quickly realized to maintain a DSD guaranteed sale business he had to invent his own product and not rely on someone else for the next HOT item!

Direct Store Delivery was in the family. Bill Green (Todd's father) ran the state of Indiana for Interstate Brands. Dad soon came over to Novelty to run the DSD business while Todd concentrated on building relationships on the other side of the world and designing the product line. Growth came quick and Novelty started adding major chains to the program.

Novelty has continued to refine the thought process of the Original business. To achieve success and keep margins high for our customers, vertical integration was mandatory. Today, Novelty designs its own product, owns five offices in China, imports nearly everything we sell under our own brands, and liquidates what's left.

It grows almost daily but currently Novelty services 15,000 C-Stores coast-to-coast with its DSD business utilizing only company employees and vehicles. Our customer list read like a "Who's Who" in C-Stores, including The Pantry, Cumberland Farms, Couche- Tard, ExxonMobil, Valero, Giant Industries, SSP Circle K, Thornton, Kum & Go, Village Pantry, and hundreds more.

Representative of the vision and ideals upon which Novelty was created and continues to operate, Todd was honored in 1999 as "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst & Young LLC. The growth, enthusiasm, and product keep coming. We are looking forward to another exciting year of achieving record results for our valued customers.
